By the end of the semester, you should be able to: This course will examine the significant cultural, economic, and political developments that have shaped the lives of American women. We will analyze how gender roles have been constructed throughout American history, as well as received and/or contested by women. We will adopt an intersectional approach by discussing the variety of women’s experiences and acknowledging the importance of parameters such as race, ethnicity, class, and sexual orientation in shaping the lives of women in the United States.
